Ethics in 1969, I had the
pleasure of hearing you present it to an audience in Toronto
under the
sponsorship of the Law Society of Upper Canada. Since then it
has provided me with a set of “first principles” regarding
the role of the professional and the Self Regulated Organization.
Thank you for over four decades of guidance and clarity . . .
Professional Ethics has provided me with a simple guide for much
of my working life. For that, I remain in your debt.’
My reply was as follows. ‘I
was pleased to read your remarks about my book Professional
Ethics.
Sadly it is no longer authoritative
in England, which has turned its back on what it now regards
as old-fashioned ethical principles. Canada on the other hand
seems to remain faithful, I am very glad to see. I still receive
from Canada communications such as your own which confirm this.’
