My friend Sloshy, the warm-hearted bear,
graduated recently at Ursa Major College in the University of Oxford
Circus. The photo shows him wearing the gold chain, with the gold
replica of himself clutching his diploma, with which he was presented
by the Vice-Chancellor and Honorary Ringmaster. This followed Sloshy’s
delivery of an oration in Latin on the Beauties of Berne which he
cribbed from the internet. I don’t know how he does it. His
triumph is important to me because I’ve known him for years
and didn ’t know he had it in him. |

Sloshy has received congratulations on his Diploma from a learned
Professor (who understandably wishes to remain anonymous). The Professor adds: ‘While
I am sure he is a very lovable little chap, I am also sure that, with a head full of cotton
wool, he felt entirely at home among all the other modern students he must have encountered’.
Sloshy is rather proud of this, while indignantly denying that cotton wool his any place among his formidable
brains. |
